Ms. West's Class
Welcome to my class! We will have a beautiful journey exploring new things in Reading, Language Arts, and Math for the school year 2024 - 2025. The group that is on our journey is the 6th, 7th and 8th grade students of Escambia Christian School.
I am a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana B.F.A., a graduate of Indiana Vocational School L.P.N. and grafted into the Education field via The Educator Preparation Institute at Pensacola State College.
My mission and goal is to teach and help your child to reach his/her highest potential in order to fulfill their purpose in this world. Psalm 139:14 says, " I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are thy works, that my soul knows it very well."

6th grade - Our objectives in English for this month are learning the usage of Colons, Semicolons, Quotation Marks, Apostrophes, Hyphens, Capitalization, and Chapter Review.
Writing: Students will learn how to write a Business, and Informal Letter including how to address an envelope.​

English - 7th/8th grade - Our objectives in English for this month are learning about Comparative Superlative Adverbs: Adverb Phrases; Clauses, Multiword Prepositions, Troublesome Prepositions, Words Used as Adverbs and Prepositions, Prepositions Phrases As Adjectives; Adverbs, and Chapter Review.
Writing: Students will learn how to write a Business, and Informal Letter including how to address an envelope.

Reading - 7th/8th grade -This month we are continuing to read Short Stories as well as novels, and finding creative ways of writing a Book Report such as, reports written on T-Shirts. A packet including T- shirt, and the Rubric will be given to the student. This month is Black History Month and students will have an opportunity to participate in a Poster Contest/Report on any notable African American who has contributed to our community, our country, and our world.

Math - 6th/7th/8th - Our objectives in Math for this month are learning about Algebraic expressions ( 2 or more variables); Algebraic expressions (1 variable); Simplifying expressions; Algebra: 2 step equations. Students will also review Addition and Subtraction of Integers.
